Ornery Owl Birdhouse Pattern

This highly colorful, whimsical birdhouse is sure to get lots of attention wherever you display it!

Hang this unique project from a tree limb using wire and an eyescrew or mount on a fence or tree trunk using our Flush Mount Hangers (available below). The bottom is hinged for easy clean out when nesting season is over.

This fun project is easy to make from our full-size pattern and step-by-step instructions. Uses two brass plated hinges (#BHNG1) available below. (18" tall)

One 1X10 x 84" long pine board
One 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" x 2-1/2" piece of pine

Tools:
Table Saw and Band Saw or Scroll Saw with a smooth non-chipping blade
Electric Drill and 1-1/2", 3/16" and 3/32" dia. drill bits

Hardware:
Nails - One box, 3D 1-1/4" long, finish
Screws - Six #8 x 1-1/2" long, flat head
Hinges - Two 1" x 1-1/16" brass plated (#BHNG1)
Eyescrews (optional) - One 5/16" I.D. (#EYE3) for hanging
Flush Mount Hanger (optional) - One 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" (#FMH)

Supplies:
Transfer paper (#CARB), pencil & clear tape
Sand paper - medium & fine grits
Wood filler - non-shrinking, fast drying for wood flaws
Wood Glue - exterior grade (#GLUETB3)
Paint Brushes - 3/4", 1/4" and 2" wide brushes or foam tip

Paint:
White primer (#PRIMQT) for a base coat and the following suggested colors of acrylic paint or exterior semi-gloss enamel:
2025 - Burnt Umber
2041 - Bittersweet
2055 - Autumn
2078 - Straw
2085 - Natural Beige
2424 - Bambi
2459 - Crocus Yellow
2505 - White
2506 - Black

High-grade, non-yellowing, semi-gloss UV protected project sealer (#POLYQT) for outdoor protection.
